Draw My House Competition 2011

The local winners have been announced for the annual Draw My House Competition, entrants were asked to draw their home to go in for the chance of winning prizes for schools and individuals. One child from each age group was selected as this years local winner and presented with their awards and prizes at their school assembly.
There was up to $20,000 worth up prizes up for grabs.
The prize for the three to six category was won by Hayley of St. Brendans and the seven to ten category was won by Joshua, also of St. Brendans Primary School. The oldest category (11 to 13) was won by Chloe of Lakes Entrance Primary School, for her bright purple castle.
"We had an overwhelming response from the local primary schools," John Hatfield, Principal of LJ Hooker Lakes Entrance said. "All the artwork was fantastic and we have had all the drawings displayed in our office throughout August." The management and staff at LJ Hooker Lakes entrance would like to thank all those who entered and the schools for their continuing support. "We look forward to another successful competition next year,"Mr. Hatfield added.
SkyFest 2011
The Lakes Entrance Rotary Club is pleased to announce they have secured major sponsorship for the 2011 SkyFest New Years Eve celebrations. The major sponsors for SkyFest 2011 were approved this week by the Skyfest Committee.
The Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance is the new auspicing body for Skyfest. " We have greatly appreciated the strong support that local businesses have given the Skyfest festival" said Jeff Wilson, the President of Lakes Entrance Rotary. "Their support and the support of community members has meant that Skyfest will be able to put on two spectacular fireworks shows at Lakes Entrance keeping alive the 60 year history of this iconic event. On behalf of the Lakes Entrance community I would like to thank our major sponsors L J Hooker, East Coast Plumbtec and Bellevue and Esplanade Resort & Spa for their generous support. As well as the major sponsors there are additional companies that have committed $1000 or more and there are others that are in the pipeline. It shows how Lakes Entrance can pull together as a town." Mr Wilson said.

The 9.30pm fireworks show for families together with the midnight shows and other entertainment means the event caters for people of all ages. Paul Marsden from Eastcoast Plumbtec said that he was happy to be supporting the New Year's Eve festivities again. "Skyfest is important for the businesses of the town and for the families that visit Lakes Entrance. I was shocked to hear last month that there was a chance that the fireworks and entertainment on the waterfront at Lakes Entrance was in danger of being cancelled."
Chris Banson the owner of Bellvue and Esplanade Resort & Spa said “The New Years festivities in Lakes Entrance helps to put Lakes Entrance on the map. I am particularly supportive of the family friendly emphasis of the festivities. I understand with the funds raised that this years show and entertainment promises to be the best held so far".
Justine Marlique Coordinator of the SkyFest fund raising committee is pleased with how the organisation of the event is progressing. “Fundraising efforts have been very successful thanks to the support of the community, local business and East Gippsland Shire.”
